Explore and share your life with a amazing Private tour, private guide Lares.
Private Guided Tour LARES Cancha-Cancha is located in a beautiful mountain area at 3,954 meters above sea level (13,000ft) that divides the Sacred Valley in two. It has spectacular views of the Chicon and Sirihuani glaciers to the east and to the imposing Colquecruz glacier to the west.
This is the home of 54 native Quechua speaking families who are dedicated to agriculture and cattle pasturing, amongst them the llamas. The typical and picturesque high Andean architecture can be appreciated in the homes of the local people and in the cattle folds built with local stones, which are adapted to the extreme weather conditions.
To get there we must ascend in northern direction through the valley of Huarán to reach the area of Saywapata, starting point of one of the most popular parts of the Inca Trail that leads to the hot water springs of the Inca in the town of Lares. During the hike we cross wonderful woods of native trees and bushes, while being able to watch many bird varieties and spectacular rock formations with a beautiful view over the Sacred Valley of the Incas.
Whilst walking you are also supporting the Llama Project; a recovery project to rescue ancestral cultural values related to the breeding and use of llamas. This is a tradition almost forgotten in the high Andean communities.
